Episode 1: A Dark Knight
An airport strip shows a jet landing with one passenger coming out, Bruce Wayne, who is then greeted upon by Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce's butler, and gets into a limousine to his home. The scene then skips to two months later to a meeting of the board members at Wayne Enterprises where CEO and president Jack Norton comments to fellow board member Lucius Fox that Bruce has been absent from his work at the technological office and advises him to make sure he doesn't miss any more work days. Back at Wayne Manor, Alfred wakes Bruce up to inform him that Lucius called to check up on him, with Bruce responding by saying he's had a long night. It then shows a group of men with guns opening containers fill with drugs and each one of them starts to fill up boxes with them. Unbeknownst to them, they are being stalked by a cape and cowled Bruce who starts to take them out one by one, but then gets noticed and is forced to fight them all the while avoiding their bullets. Bruce then interrogates one last one into telling him who they work for with the thug saying they work for Falcone. After that he knocks him out. The next day, a corrupt police officer brings in the same thugs that were beaten up to Carmine Falcone, the head of the Falcone crime family only to have them killed after their excuse of "a man dressed like a bat" angers Falcone. Bruce arrives at work and gets scolded by Lucius about being late for work, but apologizes after saying that it was mostly from Jack. Bruce brings back a MRI machine, that was designed by his father, to the cave which puts Alfred's mind at ease a bit. The computer receives a notice of a crime in progress and Bruce goes to put on the suit with Alfred telling Bruce to be careful with the latter saying he will. The police encounter both members of the Falcone and Maroni families in a fire fight with civilians in the cross hair, but have no idea what to do. Bruce comes in and saves the civilians then turns his attention to the thugs and manages to take them all out, then an officer tries to arrest him but Bruce throws a smoke pellet and gets away. Bruce returns to the cave and discovers a bullet wound which Alfred attends to quickly. Alfred tries to convince Bruce that this crusade of his will end up putting him in more danger or worse: kill him, which Alfred says he made a promise to his parents that he'll let nothing happen to him. Bruce then reassures that this is what he wants and promises to be careful. Elsewhere, a bleeding thug is brought to Falcone with another saying that one of their op-houses was attacked with everybody dead inside. Falcone then asks the wounded man who was responsible for this and the man answers back saying it was a white suited guy who called himself, Black Mask.
Episode 2: Gordon
Bruce takes down a smuggling ring owned by Falcone and returns home for some well earned sleep, but is woken up by Alfred saying that he needs to get to work and that James Gordon is back in Gotham. Gordon, who's now captain of the GCPD, is called over by his partner, Harvey Bullock, who tells him that Commissioner Loeb has given them a new case and then shows him a newspaper with a picture of the masked Bruce Wayne from the other night. He says that the media has begun calling the mysterious figure "The Batman" and that he's been taken tons of thugs in the city and the mayor's not too thrilled about it. Bruce reads the paper and takes a liking to the name and decides that's what he'll be called when wearing the suit, which Alfred finds to be a ridiculous name. The next day, Bruce visits the GCPD to visit Gordon who's happy and surprised to see Bruce after he learned that the latter left Gotham seven years ago without saying a word. Bruce explains that after everything that's happened in the past that he just thought it would be best to leave Gotham and explore the world. On his way out, he bumps into Barbara Gordon, Gordon's daughter. Falcone calls on Victor Zsasz to help out with hit on one of Maroni's meth labs to which Victor happily accepts. At Gordon's apartment, he and Barb get into an argument about how she wants to help out the police, but Jim doesn't want involved with what goes on in the city. Barbara storms out angrily, but not without taking his police radio. Batman intercepts a call between Maroni's men at the meth labs and goes over to disrupt them. Barbara arrives on the scene and tries to see if there's anything she can use to help the police catch them, but ends up caught by Zsasz. Batman discovers this just as the police with Gordon show up and tries to find a way to save his daughter without getting caught. Zsasz hears the cops outside and warns them that he's got a hostage which shocks Gordon when he sees that it's Barbara. Batman gets inside and takes out all the armed men, but Zsasz sees Batman and tries to cut Barb's throat. Batman throws a batarang at Zsasz to disarm him which works and Barbara gets away, but Zsasz jumps at her only to be kneed in the face by Batman. After he goes down, Barbara is surprised to meet Batman and thanks him for saving her. The police barge in to secure the building and Gordon's happily reunited with his daughter and Gordon asks Barb who did this with her saying it was a hero. Later that night, Gordon goes out for a smoke only to meet Batman who proclaims to be an ally, but Jim believes the police are the only ones to go after the bad guys and not some masked vigilante. Batman returns to the Batcave wondering if he should let Gordon know about his secret to which Alfred replies with saying that Gordon would only stop him from his mission. Elsewhere, Falcone is on the phone talking to his second in command when suddenly he receives another call from an unknown number, but when he answers, the caller introduces himself as Black Mask.
